Bemersyde, Melrose, Scottish Borders, UK. 3rd December 2018. The Duke of Buccleuch Foxhounds meet at Bemersyde House, the ancestral seat of the Haig clan. Bemersyde was originally built as a Pele Tower in 1535, during the period of the Border Reivers. The Haig clan, famous for their whisky trade and military leadership, have remained in Bemersyde for 800 years, as predicted in the 13th century by Thomas the Rhymer - 'Tyde what may, what'er betyde, Haig shall be Haig of Bemersyde'.
