Rochester, Northumberland, England, UK. 4th August 2017. Coquetdale Young Farmers Club Speed Shearing competition. A celebration of the skill of clipping, the fastest shearers will clip a lamb in just under 25 seconds. Pentalties are handed out by the judges for incorrect technique or small cuts to the skin. The first Young Farmers' Club opened in 1921 in Hemyock, Devon, where the United Dairies milk factory set children of the area's milk producers the task of calf rearing, with competitions and prizes for those achieving the highest standards.
